17 inch tires 850 1997

I’ve got the Bridgestone RE 730’s in a 215/45R17 size on my R and they fit fine. I love the improvement in handling, wet/dry grip, and washboard road survivability. They are a smig larger but upon inspecting my inner wheel wells there doesn’t appear to be any black marks or damage.

Another thing to keep in mind is that a 215/45R17 from Bridgestone is listed to be slightly smaller then one from Pirelli. TireRack lists the Pzero with a section width (the widest part of the tire) of 8.5” and an overall diameter of 25.0” where the RE730 has a section width of 8.4” and an overall diameter of 24.6”. I imagine these little differences could lead to sizable problems with the narrow wheel wells of the 850.

To address Billy Dee’s question of the difference in the height of the 45 series tires, the middle number in this case 45 is a percentage of the width of the tire, 215, in this case.
