Front end knock S80

I own a 2000 S80 T6 with 25000 miles. Have recently noticed a knocking noise coming from the front driver side suspension over rough pavement at low speed. It sounds like something is loose. I don't believe it's brake related, and when the car is rocked up and down on that front driver side corner, I'm hearing a slight knock. The ball joints were replaced 1500 miles ago. Has anyone had an experience which sounds like this? Other than these problems, the car has been great for two years.
