The service light can only be reset by a reset tool specifically made for the 96 and up volvo models. It contains a hex code that is sent through the OBD port to the computer. There is a lot to read about in BB's archives just search for "Resetting Service Light". If you buy the equipment to reset the light make sure the vendor advertises the software as being able to do such. Just clearing the OBD codes with a generic code reader will not reset it. From what i've read on the few obd software sites none of them can reset the service light. If anyone knows differently it would be great to know.
