5 Speed 850's - How are they??? 850 1997

I have a 1993 850 with the 5-spd and I think it is great... smooth shifting and clutch action. NA motor is slow/underpowered at low RPM's. Doesn't seem like a lot of torque is in there. I do hate the fact that I have to rev the bitch out of the motor - makes for a not-so-fun experience especially when all I'm doing is just keepin' up with the traffic. But, then again, I didn't buy the 850 to race it around. I routinely get between 26 and 31 mpg.

If you want a GREAT 5spd VOLVO, either buy a new S60 ...or... a used C70 (I wish I had this one)

Let's just say, it's no BMW.
