Front end knock- addition S80

I recently wrote in about a front end knocking noise coming from what seems to be the suspension. It occurs at low speed on the drivers side. I did receive a couple of helpful responses. Upon further investigation, I've noticed that the housing (which is connected to a rubber boot) on the drive shaft (left-hand side) moves in and out about 1/8" to 3/16". This movement by hand creates a noise similar to what I'm hearing when I drive the car at low speeds over rough pavement. Does anyone know if the movement of this housing is normal? The housing on the passenger side (RH) doesn't move a bit. There also appeared to be a little grease on the LH housing, and none on the RH. There don't appear to be any problems with the boot. 2000 S80 T6.
