ECU PROBLEM OR...??? 850 1997

When my check engine light come on my Volvo dealer cannot read faulty codes and i just can guess what is wronng with my car.My vehicle ECU don`t want to comunicate with tester.What is wrong with him,can somebody help me??Have i problem with ECU or it is something else???Any help will be appriciated!PLEASE HEEEELP!!!
