98 V70 Owners, I need Help! V70-XC70

There are statistical and anecdotal stories enough to support his contention of MY98 issues.. I've had a few electrical issues in my 98 but 1) this is nothing new with Volvo, 2) I am handy at automotive electrical anyway, and 3) most of these problems encourage me to make upgrades (as opposed to minimal repairs). Most of the serious electrical deficiencies in the 98 should have been fixed under recall (front headlight and turn signal issues) or warranty. The big electrical thing to watch for is the ABS/TRACS controller. If it hasn't been replaced yet or if the dealer doesn't know, I'd ask for a new one before you buy. It's probably got a 1 in 2 chance of failure and the part alone is over $300. (I believe the 99 and up has a different system.)

Other than the few issues I took on when I bought the car, this car has been my dream car - far exceeding my expectations.
