1994 Volvo 850T Valve adjustment - advise ? 850 1994

Hello,
Since finding this site a few days ago, I've been given all kinds of great advise from you fellow Volvo lovers out there. Thanks a million.
I'm really only down to two more issues I have to do. One, the timing belt.
I think I'm cool with that, since I have a manual and it looks pretty straight
foward.
The second thing is the Valve adjusting. I have never done that to this car
and it has 82,000 miles. They make a clatter all the time ( especially in
the morning when cold ), but you can hear them all the time slightly.
I was reading in my manual and it mention shims.
Could someone out there who has done this, let me know if you have any advise,
and or hands one experience with this. Another good thing to know - will I need
any specialty tools ?? How long from start to finish ? etc...
Thanks again !!

Sincerely,
Ryan
Dallas,TX
