Transmision shifting problem 850 1994

I'm having the exact same problem with my 95 850 turbo wagon. i spoke with the local volvo guy and he said to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes to reset the tranny. Also is your tranny shift arrow blinking on your dash? There is some kind of switch in the auto tranny that commonly goes on the 850s he said.
