Additional Lighting Installation? S40-V40 2001

Has anyone added additional fog/driving lights to their S/V40? I don't mean the Volvo fog lights that have a cut out in the bumper pre-fabricated, I mean in addition to them. If so how did you go about installing them? Did you splice into the wiring for the fog lights, head lights or added a separate circuit for them?

The reason I ask this is because I would like to improve the lighting a little. I want to add some additional light straight ahead so I can see a little further down the road, the week point of the current lighting system. Don’t get me wrong the lighting is adequate but a little more couldn't hurt.

Some of the other options are upgrading to HID but that is very expensive. I could also change to those so-called "super white" bulbs but I don’t think they really do much; they’re mostly for show, in my opinion.
