Just an FYI. I bought a new Volvo Accessory Amp on e-Bay (HA-4350 4X50W)for about $100. I bought the matching cable from the dealer for about $95. I installed both today in my 1998 XC which has the SC-816 head unit. The install was seamless and mostly painless - it mounts under the passenger seat which only has to be tipped back, not removed - the Volvo provided instructions are accurate.
The output from the Radio/CD player has noticeably increased dynamic range and the lower bass notes have more impact at any volume level. A worthwhile upgrade if you like car audio, want OE fit and finish and can get a deal like I did on the amp ( retails at the dealer for $400+)
