B1 Error Codes 4-1-4 & 4-1-7 850

My electronic climate control light has been flashing recently. After reading the codes from the B1 socket i have been able to determine that the above mentioned codes are indicating that the driver and passenger side sensor intake fans are blocked. After looking at my Haynes manual i am not sure what the intake fans are or where they are located. I have also noticed that the car blows hot air regardless of where i set the temperature dial except when i turn the dial all the way to the coldest setting. When at the coldest setting the system blows what seems to be air conditioned air. Does anyone have a clue at where i should start looking. The 5000 C temps are starting to get to me on those long trips.
