trans. slip/disengage problem and answer 850 1995

Matt,

Frank is right. This is a small world, you never know that you may need them again in the future.

I think that I were the one who told you about my transmission problem back in last year. The fix for my case was the TPS. Dealer couldn't find out why it jerked and slipped. They just replaced the fluid initially and that reduced the slipping a lot but still there (torque converter couldn't lockup @ highway speed). Then they replaced the transmission under warranty back in 1997. However, the replacement tranny still exhibited the jerking (no more slipping though). Finally, they replaced the TPS under my suggestion (based upon a bricker's suggestion) and that fixed the jerking problem. It was an experience because I tried to duplicate the jerking by myself with the replacement tranny to make sure that I could duplicate it anytime I wanted to. Then I test drove my wagon with dealer's master tech. and showed him how to duplicate the jerking. Then he agreed with me that problem still existed, not an air bubble inside the tranny passages (first excuse from Service manager!)

I still believed that the slipping was the consequence of the jerking. The whole tranny problem happened so fast. Jerking in the Friday morning on my way to work and then slipped in the afternoon on my way home from work. The next day, Saturday, was the mix of jerking and slipping. In the third day, Monday, the tranny was almost 70% slipping, on it's way to the dealer for repair.

Anyway, good luck with your fix and don't forget to flush the tranny.
