tough shifting into first 850 1997

Recently, I have noticed that moving the shifter back into first gear (at a stop) is becoming more difficult. Usually when this happens, move the gearshift from 4th to 3rd to 2nd, then to 1st. Most of the time this works. However, in a couple of instances, I cannot get back into first without a great deal of fiddling around. I am open to suggestions. The car has 135k km. Synchro is fine.
