Speed Ratings 850

Speed ratings came from Europe where on some roads high speed driving is permitted. All tires are rated for their top safe speed based on a given vehicle load. There the law says that you tires need to be capable of carrying a loaded car and the tires must be able to travel faster than your car.

Generally the higher the speed rating the stickier the tires are and the faster they wear out.

Non Turbo 850's need only H rated tires. My 850 R needs at least V rated tires.

TireRack.com will automatically select the tires with the speed rating for your car. They have more info on Speed ratings too.
