How easy or hard to replace the antanna itself.?? 850

I replaced my car's antenna (the mast) short while ago. I was a kind of easy job. But you will get your hands dirty.

To check what the problem is in your situation, you need to take the whole unit out (very easy) and disassemble the compartment that holds the plastic string (or sth?) to check whether the plastic string is broken, or stuck. If it is not broken, pull the mast to check for problems. You may just need some new grease. I don't think it is a problem with the motor. The mast I bought was only about $20.
