I was always under the impression that at least one of the reasons for using synthetic oil was so you could extend your oil changes, thus providing a savings over regular oil. If your not going to extend the oil change, I, personally, can't see the benefit to spending the extra $$ for the synthetic. If you would get your synthetic oil anylized after 5k, I'm sure you would be told to increase the mileage on your changes.
