Should I buy an 850? 850

Hello all, I am crossing over from the rear wheel drive forum. I am considering an 850 wagon, 1994

I currenlty own a 92 240 with 135,000 miles and an 88 740 with 305,000 miles. I am thinking about replacing the 740 with an 850. I like the newer styling and look. I have been very happy with my 740 and 240 and feel they are very well built. I do all my own work, which is a substantial amount of stuff on a car with 305,000 mile on it so I am not against replacing stuff that wears out or preventative maint like the usual stuff I do every 60k on my current cars. I, however, expect not to have to buy 1,000 computers or 1,500 air conditioners. If I wanted to put up with that kinda crap I'd drive a cadilac.

So will I be happy with an 850? What are the real chances of catastrphic failure. My 740 has the crappier ZF tranny and I have never had any problems, but I am a gentle driver and a stickler for maintanance.

What do ya think?

Thanks in advance.
