1998 V70 Expiring Warranty V70-XC70 1998

Hi all!

My 1998 V70 is approaching 50,000 miles and the factory warranty will expire then. The car has served me well, except for the minor electrical trouble (light bulbs and sockets). I would like to find out from your experience ways to find out defects, particularly big ticket items, that can be covered by the factory warranty before it expires.
What would you be looking for at 50,000 miles?
Do you bring the car to the dealer and let them do their "recommended" schedule (changing the fluids, etc., which I can do myself), or do you ask them to check for specific "weakness" of the car such as AC evaporator, or do you check these yourself?

Thanks for any information.

Rob
