V40 2.0T: Surging revs (Intermittent) S40-V40 1999

Hi,

looking for help or at least a shoulder to cry on.

My car has been into the garage regularly for the past 2 years.

This is an intermittent fault which the garage has claimed never to be able to witness so no fault codes. Despite this they have replaced the ECU twice and part of the air con unit. All to no avail.

The symtoms are bouncing revs when idle normally 1000-1500 occasionally it would hit 2500. This was also occuring of a fashion while in gear and when running. There was no discernible pattern to driving conditions or manner (hot, cold or damp), maybe appeared to be more common when lot of rain but not always.
