Mystery beeps and 'Alert!' message S80

OK, it's about time I sought some advice on these two minor issues.

For most of the past couple of years my wife and I have noticed that about every other week or so my '99 S80 T6 (with HU801 radio) will make an errant beeping noise. The noise is high-pitched and tends to last just under a second. It seems to happen randomly whether or not the radio is on (and I'm not sure if the sound comes from the speakers or not).

Yesterday, for the first time, another anomaly (possibly related) occurred. This time we heard a high-pitched beeping noise for over a second and the radio actually turned on. The radio display showed 'Alert!' for about 3 seconds and then the radio turned off. I searched the users manual and the closest I came is mention of an 'Alarm!' indication for the 801 radio in the case of a serious accident or emergency nearby. I don't know if the manual is inaccurate and should say 'Alert!' instead of 'Alarm!' or if my 'Alarm!' indication is something completely different.

Does anybody have any insight to share?

Thanks.
