Lousy radio reception S70

I have a 99 S70 GLT with radio, single CD and the one complaint I have is that the radio reception is lousy and it has been that way since we bought the car. I get null/low spots in the reception (it sounds very muffled), and when I drive a few feet further, the reception comes back in. The dealer says it's normal. My previous 92 Ford T-bird didn't have this problem. Anybody experienced the same thing?
