Engine oil leak V70-XC70 2000

Hi...

Just got back from the dealer today to diagnose a gear oil smell which I thought was coming from the AWD system but the tech couldn't find any leaks besides an unusual oil seepage on the rear of the engine where the aluminum top cover meets the block. I thought this calls for a gasket job but was being told Volvo uses a special glue(?) instead. They want me to bing it back and they will fix it under warranty.. fine with me but I'm a little concerned for a car with only 50,000Kms. Anyone over here had similar problems? Are engine oil leaks common to Volvo?
