Cause of cupped tires? 850 1994

JMO: The Discount Tire store near me suggests rotating the tires every 5000 miles. I have slight cupping on my snows. Discount says it is from lack of rotation. Tire wear is fine. I don't have this problem with my summer tires and I rotate them every 5000. I didn't even think that snows needed to be rotated, but I guess they do too.

Possible areas to look at for the cupping: Look at the simple things first, easiest and cheapest to fix.

Rotation at 5000 miles
Struts going bad
Suspension components may need replacement

One thing you didn't mention is what the mileage is on your car. Note: If you get tires that have a directional pattern, they must not be cross rotated. Khumo Ecsta 205-45-17 is an example of this tire. I don't cross rotate my wife's car and her is a Chevy Corsica. I run front to back only.

If there are any tire manufacturers out there, is it advisable to cross rotate tires? I wouldn't think so myself.
