v70's vs. v90's....? V70-XC70 1999

The V90 is a rear wheel car based on the 960 model. It has a splendid straight six engine and a sophisticated aluminum rear suspension. It was a great station wagon if you want the traditional front engine rear drive configuration. Unfortunately, it was auto transmission only. Last year of production was 1998 or possibly early 1999. V90's are rare and I believe sales were slow in the USA.

The V70 (the older model, not the present one) was based on the 850 with a sideways-mounted 5-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive. It was available with manual transmission and a variety of engines (turbo, etc.). The all-wheel drive models are trouble-prone, but the fwd is fine.
