alternator problem? 850

The new battery (1 month old) on my `96 850 wagon 75k miles slowly died this past week. With the car running I checked some voltage readings from the battery.
Can someone confirm my suspicion that it is the alternator. After completely recharging the battery, here are the readings I got using a digital voltmeter.

14v @1500 rpm (no load)

13.89v @1500 rpm (w/load high beams, AC and radio)

13.95v @1500 rpm (switched back to no load)

(never made it back up to 14v and during each of the readings it was fluctuating .2 to .4

Do these readings point to the diodes or the regulator?
Anyone with alternator experience have a thought? And can the diodes and or regulator be replaced without taking the alternator out.

thanks,

James
