hood safety latch 850

I started getting this problem about two weeks ago. The center safety latch, the one you have to pull from the grill side, well it got jammed after i release the inside handle and i ended up snapping the plastic arm that you pull. i got a new plastic part, installed it and it happened again. i noticed that when i pull the inside hood release the hood doesn't pop up like it use to and when i try to manually lift the hood the safety latch jams. Has anyone experienced this and what did you do to fix the situation. WHen i reinstalled the thing this last time, i tried to install it in the original location. Ken
