Fast idle ? 850 1996

Down-Under again. Many thanks for the responses to the rear seal enquiry.

All the books say that the the idle speed can not be adjusted. Mine idles at 1000 RPM. Is this normal? Seems fast to me, as a first time owner. If this is okay, is it something to do with the odd 5 cylinder configuration?

It a standard 850 with air conditioning for Aussie summers)
