I believe if you contact a Mr. Willets at volvo's customer service you may receive a warranty repair. Go to customerservice@volvocars.com and use this reference number as I have already created an issue regarding this very subject " (KMM165780C0KM)." Again please use this issue number. There is a problem pattern that "hush hush" Volvo recognizes as a "pattern problem" with the interior door with regard to bubbling. However, I am apparently out of luck because I waited to long to report it. Below is a set of emails between myself and a Volvo service representative. Since this person is familiar with the issue and the issue number you may want to send an email and use my communications and reference number for help. Keep me posted please as I intend to conduct some research and try and make an effort for a recall.

Dear Mr. Willets,
Thank you for your response. While I appreciate your stance on this matter please consider that two Volvo representatives advised me to contact you since, in their own words, this is a "known pattern problem and Volvo is aware of this." I am appealing again.
I was under the assumption that Volvo stands behind their product just as Honda does. Case in point, I own a Honda automobile and 2 years after the warranty expired Honda continued to stand behind the product. As you will agree, this is exceptional service and earns customer loyalty.
My loyalty to Volvo is now in question. I am an owner of two other Volvo's. Never in the past did I experience unusual problems aside from the usual wear and tear. In fact, the situation for which I am complaining did not occur on my Volvo 760 GLE until after 240,000 miles. Yes, the similar problem for which I am appealing occurred on my 760 GLE rear door panels. Nevertheless, given the newness of my existing Volvo, the interior degradation is premature and unacceptable at such a young age.
Does Volvo wish to loose me as a customer over the refusal to do the right thing and that being making some right out of this pattern related problem at the admission of your own Volvo representatives? Bottom-line, I would be content with parts at your cost and myself to pay for labor. This is a reasonable request.

Dear Mr. Sylvian,
This is in response to your previous e-mail regarding the door panel
interior of your 1998 Volvo S70 T5.
We have given careful consideration to your situation and reviewed your
request. As much as we desire to resolve each of customer's requests to
their satisfaction, it is not always possible to meet every
expectation. Based on the age and mileage of your vehicle, we regret we
are not in a position to provide cost assistance towards this repair.
We appreciate the time you have taken to advise us of your concerns.
We understand that your experience is not to your expectation and
apologize for any inconvenience.
Sincerely,
John Willets

Dear Mr. Sylvian,
We are sorry to learn of the difficulties you have experienced with the
door panels on your 1998 Volvo S70 T5. Volvo puts great effort into
designing and manufacturing a quality automobile that will be as safe
and durable as current engineering technology will allow. While it
would be ideal for any vehicle to remain repair free, it is possible
that some vehicles will need repairs and Volvo cannot warranty that
every part or component of the vehicle will be completely free from
repairs during ownership.
Your 1998 model was supported by a 4 year or 50,000 mile New Car Limited
Warranty, whichever came first. Once the vehicle is beyond the
warranty, Volvo can review customer's requests, on an individual case by
case basis, with respect to the mileage and service history. Please let
us know how many miles are on your vehicle and which retailer you are
servicing with, so we may address your concerns further.
Drive Safely,
John Willets

comments: To Whom this may concern:
Hi. My name is David Sylvian. I own a 1998 Volvo S70 T-5. I have been
a volvo loyalist since 1990. I have had no complaints or concerns until
now. I am hoping that Volvo will be able to assist me in a resolution.
The problem is, as I understand it from the dealer and service
department, that there is a Volvo acknolowledged problem with regard to
some of the interior components. Specifically, my door pannel on the rear driver side is "bubbling up." That is, detatching from the surface it once was attached too. The car is only 4 years old. I garage and car cover the
vehicle constantly. I park under trees. I do everything possible to
avoid prolonged periods of heat exposure. In fact, the vehicle doesn't
have a nick/scratch/door ding on it. I truly maintain and care for the
car. It seems rather odd that the door should begin to deteriate.
Can you help me with this problem?
