That would actually make things worse. Soft shocks with stiff springs usually makes for a hard sprung, bouncy ride.

Considering your car is a 97', I'm willing to bet any stiffness in ride you have now is a result of worn shocks.

When I went with H&R springs, Koni adjustable shocks/struts, as well as other suspension pieces, my ride quality vastly improved over the stock, yet my handling has increased dramatically.
