does draining a battery kill it?

man, am I an idiot.

So I left the trunk ajar for about 2 days in my 1998 S70 T5.

Deader than a doornail this morning. Really faint lights (dash, door ajar, etc) indicate very low juice in the battery. But it won't even attempt to turn over.

This is a brand new Interstate battery (maybe a month old). This is the first time I have ever done anything like this. I intend on re-charging it over night with a trickle charger. By draining the brand new battery of power, have I degraded its life?

Thanks
Joe
