Bypassing Air Mass Meter or newer one 850

Some of you might have read my post already about my blunder breaking my air mass meter. I've checked with my dealer and he wants about $350 CDN. for the part. I don't really want to spend that much, so I'm thinkin of going to a werecker. My question is:

Is a newer air mass meter from say a 97 850 N/A, compatable with a 94 850 N/A? If not, is there a way to somhow make the engine run without the air mass meter?

Thanks for the suggestions fellas.

Also, anyone in cananda selling 17" rims
