Witchcraft at the US/Canadian border, revisited(need help)

....I am a little surprised by the lack of interest (see note on 4/7 (ALL)...but the short simple question is, What, How and Why, could my clock go nuts and lose 4 hours and my trip odometer go to zero at the same time as I go through the border????? It makes no sense...but it happened! I reset both the clock and odometer and there fine! My only guess is the huge amount of electronics used by both sides somehow "Zapped" my S40!
