How are the chip updates treating people? V70-XC70 2001

How are the chip updates treating people? I have been complementing using a chip to upgrade the performance in our 2001 XC, the throttle response is horrible. There seems to be the IPD method of ECU mapping which is not reversible (without a charge). This seems to be a handicap, if I sell the XC I would want to return it to stock. I would not want to be sued over enhancements made to the car. How is the chip method from Wetterauer? What can I expect from these $800+ chips?
