Radio Static S70 1999

I am experiencing AM radio static and terrible AM reception while driving. In particular I experience what sounds like spark plug noise while slowing and starting from a stop. My wife drives a 99 XC with a different antenna then is in my S70, and I don't see the same problem. Is this the same problem others have mentioned or something unique to my car?
