Spirited driving or old age with clutch slipping ? 850 1994

Hi all,

Well guys here one and I am expected the worse :( for an answer. I used to occasionally get a noise once the clutch engaged but I just thought it might be contamination on the clutch plate. BTW it is a manual not a lovely automatic.

Just last month I took my babe on the track and did a bit of red lining especially in third gear. Now yesterday I went out for the day and covered 600 miles pursuing my other hobby. I noticed that if I floored the accelerator whilst in third between 3k and 4k revs I could hear it slip, the same sound that an engine with an automatic changing up. This also happens if I am at a low speed 30mph in fifth and floor it, again between the 3 and 4k revs?

So the question is have I knackered/screwed my clutch up or does it just need adjusting. It is the original and I now have 172500 on it.

:(
