I have started hearing a noise that I have no idea what it is. Hopefully someone out there will have an idea.
The noise is a cross between a whine and a hum with some airplane propeller qualities thrown in and little like the noise you make driving over the rumble strips on the side of the interstate highways. It is related to how fast I am going. Under 30 mph you have to strain to hear it. As I speed up it changes in pitch and volume. It seems to be coming from driver side front. I have tried putting the auto transmission in third, coasting with engine on & off, with no change. Sound is louder when making right turns (vehicle weight shifting to left side?). However sound is not loud - open windows or stereo turned up mostly cover the sound.
'93 Volvo 850 GLT
Current miles on car - 180k
Transmission replaced at 120k
AFT red and to mark
CV boot (inner & outer) look good
car drives fine otherwise - no wobble or shake in steering, no brake shake or shimmy
On the good side, on this first hot day of the year in the Northeast US the AC blows strong and hot!
Any ideas what to look at?
