I'm confused, on my '94 850 and later models the receiver is out-of-site behind and to the left of the glove box. Are using the OEM locking system? Having said that, the range of the key fobs is poor anyway and is a popular complaint from owners. Be sure to replace the batteries (lithium 2025) with ones that are good.
