High Oil Consumption 850 850 1994

I have experienced high oil consumption 'all of a sudden'. The 850 was doing great on oil, getting 3000-5000 miles to a quart of oil when on a trip it dropped very rapidly to around 1000 miles to a quart. I suspect a valve/control has gotten plugged or out of specs causing this problem. I have had sticking throttle plate problems and noticed what I now recognize as the infamous FLAME TRAP connecting to the throttle body hose. Can a bad Flame trap cause this type of problem? Should I replace/remove the Flame trap? Or ----??
