lousy AM reception S80 2001

You may not have noticed, but your S80 does not have a conventioinal external radio antenna, whereas your 850 does. Therein lies the difference. The benefit of the S80 approach is no wind noise and whistling created by turbulence around the antenna at high speeds (mostly noticed by the passenger seated closest to the antenna in the 850 and S70). For me, it is a reasonable trade-off, because there are several nearby AM stations. Those living in rural areas may wish to consider installation of an outside antenna.
