Still have a rattling sound but mechanic says from the rear? 850 1995

Just had my state inspection/emissions test done yesterday and while it was in
I asked my mechanic to check out the annoying rattling sound I am now hearing.
Appparently he thinks it is coming form the rear of the car and you hear it whenever you go over a pothole or uneven pavement. In IPD's catalog, they state that two areas in the rear to examine are the upper shock mounts and the bump stop retaining clip. Has anyone ever replaced either of these and is it difficult?

Thanks!
