99 T5 Electronic Throttle

Just replaced the electronic throttle on my V70 T5 at 55K miles. Car lit up the ETS and Check Engine lights sporadically before the fix. System had codes for the air mass sensor and the electronic throttle. Change of the throttle and software upgrade cleaned up the mass sensor codes.

I suffered through many Alfas with Marelli electrics for many years. I was truly happy when they moved to Bosch with the 88 Milano Verde. I leaned over the engine yesterday just long enough to see the Magneti Marelli trademark in the body of the fly by wire throttle and realize I was going to be out some serious bucks $950.

I hope the rest of you do not have the misfortune of having this part fail. There are many more rewarding ways to spend money on automotive things than with this. BTW, I also have a 2002 T5 and the throttle feels is like night and day. The 99 is heavy and feels forced. The 2002 is light, responsive, and a joy to drive.

Regards,

R.
