Tranny Flush 850 1996

Flush it. If it looks nasty, change it the first time with non-synthetic.
If it looks OK, you can go right to synthetic.
AMSOIL synthetic ATF will hold up 3 times as long as the non-synthetic. If you use that, plan to change what is in the pan about every 45,000 miles.
If you use another synthetic, it should be able to last at least twice as long (you can check it by sending a sample to a lab)--about 25-30K for pan drains after initial flush.
