Reactivation of alarm in S40 without VADIS visit? S40-V40 2001

Recently got my car back after a fender-bender that smashed the front left of the car without internal damage. I noticed that the alarm is no longer working. The power locks work fine on the door, key and fob, but the lights do not flash and the red light does not blink, nor does the alarm go off when I openthe door from the outside. The panic button still sets off siren and lights. The dealer suggested I turn my key in the lock a number of times which did not work and now say to bring it in for VADIS download. Is there something else I can do without hauling myself back to the dealer?
