Crazy door (un)lock problem 850 1994

This problem has happened twice now. Not sure why or how or how it went away but it did.

In any case, the problem is the door locks developed a mind of their own. Got out of the car and hit the Lock button on the keyless entry and the doors locked. Problem is, the also unlocked immediately. I tried locking about 4 or 5 times, each time the car doors immediately unlocked. Finally I thought the Remote might have the unlock button stuck so I removed the battery and tried locking using the key. Guess what happened. The car immediately unlocked. I had to leave the car unlocked and hope for the best. A couple hours later when I was going to leave, I tried a few more times. First couple times it immediately unlocked but finally it did lock and stay locked.

Overall I thought it was an isolated incident. Maybe some weird frequency at the building I was in but then the other day, the exact same thing happened to my wife at her work.

Any ideas what the problem would be or where I should look? This seems like a very odd problem.
