2001 leftover S40-V40 2001

You are comparing a S/V40 to a Honda??? I can see you doing that with the Passat. That is like comparing Apples with Turnips. The whinny engine in the Honda is awful. And the way that Honda engine has piston slap when it is cold is really annoying. My best friend drove my V40 for a day and he said the difference between his new Accord and the Volvo were dramatic. He loved his Honda until he drove the V40 and now he says he he never wants to drive my Volvo again because it makes him hate his Honda. Buy the Honda and you will have wished you bought the Volvo. Buy the Volvo and you will be happy.
