How hard to remove axle from trans side.

I need to replace one of my cv axles. I know how hard it will be to remove from the wheel side, but how hard is it to remove from the auto trans. Does it just pull out? or is there a c-clip or similar internal to the trans that i need to get to. Is replacment just push in, or is there a clip. Also I might as well replace the axle seal while i'm at it, how hard will that be?
I know I'll be getting a Haynes manual, but since I havent bought the car yet, I'm waiting to see just how hard it will be
