Do exhaust leaks decrease mileage? 850 1996

I just know that vaccuum leaks affect the mileage, and thought they may be remotely related. I assume that if the leak is before either of the oxygen sensors, it would affect the mileage because the oxygen sensors would not be measuring all of the exhaust gases since some would escape before they are measured.

If the exhaust leaks do not affect mileage, will they affect performance?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
