Yes they were made BUT they're also rare in the US as I've only seen a few in my area. Finding a decent one used might not be easy, be patient and be willing to travel for it.
You might want to check Ebay but if you go that route, find one and win a bid on it, I wouldn't pay until I see the car and have it inspected first, unless you know what you're looking at and be willing to jump on a plane to inspect it, pay for it in full and either drive it back or arrange shipping (not cheap). Ebay's OK but it's serious "buyer beware" as I'm sure there's some very questionable cars for sale their too. Do run Carfax on it too and ask the seller alot of detailed questions.
