Hi! Yet more troubles! My drivers door check strap has started the old 'crack, bang, pop' on opening and closing.

It's the bracket sticking out of the 'a' pillar that has brken almost free - so I released check strap, held door back and welded bracket to the body work, and fitted new strap. But it was difficult to weld, very tight, and weld has broken.

Can I remove the door just be releasing check strap, door electrics, and take the torx bolt out of the door hinge pin? I can them weld properly. I want to avoid having to adjust the door if possible - it does look as though it just lifts off, and will sit back in position again when it goes back on.
